Talitha Kum Ghana Youth Ambassadors Embark on Anti-Human Trafficking Campaign in Churches
With just three days to the United Nations World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, members of the Talitha Kum Ghana Youth Ambassadors, with strong support from the Talitha Kum Ghana Network have intensified our awareness efforts by engaging faith communities in a church-based campaign.
On July 26, our team visited St. Maryโs Catholic Church in Kaase, near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, where we spoke to over 200 congregants during the Holy Mass. The Parish Priest warmly welcomed us, emphasizing the urgency of our message and encouraging parishioners to listen closely and help amplify it far and wide.
We educated the congregation on the key warning signs of human trafficking, including forced labour, domestic servitude, sexual exploitation, and abuse carried out through coercion, deceit, or manipulation. We especially urged the youth to be vigilant when approached with suspicious job or travel offers that may be disguised with enticing promises.
To further support our cause, we distributed informative trifold brochures explaining the nature of human trafficking and providing contact details for ConPAHT Talitha Kum Ghana, an important resource for both advocacy and assistance.
