As part of activities leading up to the International Day for Street Children (IDSC) 2026, to be observed globally on 12th April, Safe‑Child Advocacy (SCA) has intensified a series of awareness‑raising and support initiatives aimed at promoting the rights, dignity, and protection of street‑connected and vulnerable children.
This year’s global theme, “Protect, Not Punish,” highlights the urgent need to end the criminalization of street‑connected children for acts linked to survival, such as loitering or informal street work, and to prioritize child‑centered protection and access to justice.
In the lead‑up to the commemoration, Safe‑Child Advocacy has carried out school‑based awareness campaigns, engaging pupils on child rights, responsibilities, and the importance of protecting children in vulnerable situations. The sessions also sought to promote positive attitudes toward street‑connected children and discourage stigma, discrimination, and abuse.
As part of our advocacy efforts, we have hosted a webinar on ending child marriage, drawing attention to its impact on children’s rights, education, health, and long‑term wellbeing. In addition, the organization has intensified our social media campaigns to broaden public awareness of the International Day for Street Children and reinforce the message that children should be protected rather than punished.
Through these ongoing activities, Safe‑Child Advocacy continues to call on stakeholders, communities, and the general public to support efforts that ensure every child is treated with dignity, safeguarded from harm, and given the opportunity to thrive.
