On June 13, 2023, about hundred and fifty (150) girls and young women, including head potters, street hawkers, and physically challenged girls who roam at market centers in Kumasi gathered at SCA premises at Roman Hill to benefit from the program.
Two (2) representatives of the Medical Women Association of Ghana educated participants on how to maintain their hygiene during the monthly period. They demonstrated how to use different sanitary towels to maintain cleanliness during the monthly period. In addition, the target group was sensitized on the benefits of practicing good personal hygiene, especially in the menstruation cycle, and the risks involved when one disregards it.
The team from the Medical women Association shared sanitary pads to all participants as a way of promoting personal hygiene among them. Girls/women in street situations were excited to receive packs of sanitary to ease their financial burden at the time, and they expressed profound appreciation to the benefactors.
