Safe-Child Advocacy Hosts End-of-Year Workshop and Celebration for Street-Connected Young Women

On Friday, 19th December 2025, Safe-Child Advocacy (SCA) organized an end-of-year workshop and celebration at our Drop-in Centre in Kumasi for vulnerable young women working as head porters (kayaye) in Kumasi Central Market, Kejetia (Dubai), Roman Hill, and surrounding areas.

The workshop brought together seventy-six street-connected participants to address critical issues such as child marriage and forced marriage. Facilitators empowered attendees to assert their right to refuse unwanted unions and provided education on avoiding harmful practices, including prostitution and teenage pregnancy.

In addition to the educational sessions, the program featured a festive end-of-year party. Participants enjoyed music, dance competitions with prizes, and shared nourishing meals and drinks. The celebration fostered joy, gratitude, and hope, encouraging participants to reflect on the blessings of the year and to look forward with optimism.

SCA further encouraged attendees to share the knowledge gained with peers who could not be present, and to embody kindness and love throughout the Christmas season and beyond.
