Today, December 3rd, the world celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities under the theme “Fostering disability‑inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”
At Safe-Child Advocacy, we mark this day by highlighting the resilience and achievements of children, youths, and women in vulnerable situations — especially those living with disabilities. Guided by our motto “Serving children, youths and women in street and other vulnerable situations,” we continue to stand for inclusion, dignity, and opportunity.
We believe that disability is not inability. That is why we are doing practical work to support persons with disabilities. We provide skill training in dressmaking, hairdressing, catering, and weaving. Through these programs, we help them open doors to self-employment, build confidence, create opportunities in hospitality and small businesses, and preserve cultural crafts while generating income. We also provide wheelchairs to aid mobility, ensuring that beneficiaries can move freely, access opportunities, and live with dignity.
Beyond skills, Safe-Child Advocacy has also helped children and youths with disabilities access formal education and supported women and young people to engage in enterprise development, enabling them to start small businesses and achieve independence.
Globally, over 1.3 billion people live with disabilities. Many face barriers in education, healthcare, and employment. Our work ensures that vulnerable individuals are not left behind but instead are given the tools to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we celebrate the courage of those we serve and reaffirm our commitment to building inclusive communities. We invite partners, policymakers, and individuals to join us in creating a future where every child, youth, and woman — regardless of circumstance or ability — has the chance to thrive.
