Safe-Child Advocacy and Hope Exchange Medical Centre Partner to Deliver Free Medical Outreach for Street-Connected Individuals
In a compassionate effort to support vulnerable persons, Safe-Child Advocacy (SCA), Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi under the management of Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, partnered with Hope Exchange Medical Centre to host a free medical outreach for individuals living in street situations. The event took place on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Pavilion of St. Peterโs Cathedral Basilica, Roman Hill.
The outreach provided essential healthcare services to 146 street-connected individuals, with a special focus on mothers and children. Attendees received a wide range of medical services, including:
- Malaria, HIV, Hepatitis B & C testing
 - Breast cancer and pregnancy screening
 - Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) examinations
 - Medical consultations and drug information
 - Nutritional counselling for lactating mothers
 - Postnatal care advice to prevent child malnutrition

Sr. Olivia Umoh, DC, Director of Safe-Child Advocacy, addressed the gathering with an empowering message. She encouraged beneficiaries to prioritize their health and seek early medical attention, emphasizing that many illnesses are curable if detected in time.
โThe health of every individual matters, regardless of their background,โ Sr. Olivia stated. โWe are here to remind our brothers and sisters on the streets that they are not forgotten.โ
The event was met with overwhelming appreciation from the beneficiaries, many of whom expressed their gratitude and called for more frequent outreach programs. One participant shared her experience, noting that despite living on the streets of Kumasi for over a year, this was her first time receiving such care.
This initiative underscores Safe-Child Advocacyโs commitment to serving children, youth, and women in vulnerable situations. Through its partnership with Hope Exchange Medical Centre, the organization continues to champion accessible healthcare for all.
We extend our sincere thanks to the dedicated medical professionals, volunteers, and partners who made this outreach possible. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
