Akwaaba: Where respect, commitment, Compassion, integrity, collaboration, justice, and creativity build a Global Habitat of Hope. As the elders would say, “a guest’s arrival blesses the host.” This was so for SCA.
As the world commemorated World Habitat Day on October 6, 2025, the heart of Safe-Child Advocacy, Kumasi-Ghana, became a beacon of international collaboration and shared humanity. We, at Safe-Child Advocacy Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi, was privileged to host a delegation of eight promising Social Work students and two professors from UTAH University (USA). This critical study visit, expertly organized by our enduring partners at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), served a singular purpose: to foster a dynamic knowledge exchange, allowing the visitors to observe the practical, on-the-ground reality of social service delivery in Ghana by Safe-Child Advocacy, embodying the spirit of mutual learning and global citizenship.
The study tour gave the UTAH University students and the KNUST professors tangible insight into SCA’s operational model. The delegation, which included two lecturers from UTAH and one from KNUST, journeyed to the Street Corner Education program at Kumasi central and kejetia markets, witnessing firsthand the transformative power of street-based intervention. Following this, the team toured the Vocational Training Centre at Appiadu, observing how practical skills are imparted to foster sustainable livelihoods—a crucial component of creating safe and dignified human habitats, aligning perfectly with the World Habitat Day celebration.
The spirit of exchange proved beneficial beyond shared knowledge, echoing the proverb that suggests the guest’s arrival blesses the host. The visiting team demonstrated their support through a generous donation of essential supplies, including stationeries, foodstuff and play items, further bolstering SCA’s mission to provide comprehensive care. This collaborative effort with the UTAH Department of Social Work reaffirmed the deep-seated value of global academic partnership in advancing humanitarian causes. Safe-Child Advocacy extends its sincere gratitude to KNUST and UTAH University for this inspiring visit, and we wholeheartedly say: Come again and again to this center and home of compassion, hope, and respect.
