SAFE-CHILD ADVOCACY
CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF KUMASI
Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi Safe-Child Advocacy (SCA) formerly known as Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi Street Children Project (SCP), is a Charity, Non-Profit and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) concerned with the plight of children, youth, and women in street and other vulnerable situations. SCA provides various services to our target group in Kumasi and other parts of Ghana towards reintegration and rehabilitation.
Safe-Child Advocacy (SCA) was established in 2005 to address the problems of vulnerable children and young women who live on the streets of Kumasi. SCA is managed by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul, a female Religious Congregation of Catholic sisters founded in 1633 for the service of the poor. The Daughters of Charity have their general headquarters in Paris – France and their Provincial headquarters in Nigeria, West Africa.
SCA is located in Kumasi, the capital city of the revered Ashanti Region, a very important and historical centre for Ghana.
Kumasi is the second largest city in the country located approximately 270 kilometers north of the Gulf of Guinea. It has an estimated population size of 3,353,850 people (Ghana Statistical Service, 2021). Kumasi is a commercial hub and a major transit point for people from various parts of Ghana and beyond.
Safe-Child Advocacy team is made up of the management, staff and volunteers who work in the establishment. SCA management and staff are directly accountable to the Management Board, legal owner- the Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, the Provincial leadership team of the Daughters of Charity, Province of Nigeria, and the major partner organizations who fund projects implemented by the organization (KZE/Misereor and Adamfo Ghana).

Become a Volunteer
If you have passion for children, volunteer in Ghana, Kumasi at Safe-Child Advocacy (SCA) and extend a hand of friendship to the vulnerable youth. With increasing poverty and lack of education in Ghana, the number of abandoned children is escalating by the day. A lot of children in Ghana have ended up living on the streets. Left to fend for themselves on the streets, the children get often involved with illegal activities. Street Children Project collaborates with several organizations, local and international to reach out to these children and give them the support they need. By volunteering you will provide support in the rehabilitation process, safety and education by creating a safe and healthy environment for them to grow up in.
