Over 44 beneficiaries of Safe-Child Advocacy (SCA) recently participated in a transformative workshop at the Drop-in Centre. The event, titledย “Workshop for Child Rights Champions,”ย was designed to empower young individuals with a deeper understanding of their fundamental rights.

This initiative marks a significant step toward nurturing a generation of informed, confident, and resilient citizens. Through interactive sessions, participants explored key topics such as protection from abuse, the right to education, and the importance of a safe environment. Many expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn how to advocate for themselves and others.

โ€œThis workshop has given me the courage to speak up,โ€ย said 9-year-old Asana Iliasu.ย โ€œNow I know my voice matters.โ€

SCA plans to replicate this program in more communities to ensure broader reach and lasting impact. The long-term goal is to shape a future where every child grows up in a hope-filled environment, free from exploitation and neglect. This effort goes beyond teaching rightsโ€”it instills self-worth and resilience.

A standout session led byย Mr. Akwasi Prempehย on the ethics and responsibilities of child rights champions captivated the young minds. The childrenโ€™s attentiveness highlighted the importance of educating them about their rights to protection, education, and participation.

Sister Olivia Umoh, Executive Director of SCA, addressed the participants, helping them understand their roles and responsibilities as beneficiaries of the program.

The workshop also benefited from the contributions ofย Rev. Fr. Michael Chidiebere, S.J.ย andย Fr. Didmus Didasi, S.J., Jesuit Volunteers newly assigned to SCA to serve vulnerable populations in the Ashanti Region and beyond.ย Dana, a German volunteer from the Diocese of Osnabrรผck, also played a key role in making the workshop a success.

Knowledge is power.ย This workshop on ethics and responsibilities helped children learn about their rights and roles in society. Thanks to Safe-Child Advocacy Centre for leading this vital initiative!
